Dean of Engineering manages administrative functions of the college of engineering. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Engineering leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Engineering requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Engineering manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Engineering typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Founded in 1801, Lincoln Academy is an independent Town Academy deeply rooted in the midcoast communities of central Lincoln County. For over 220 years we have served as an educational center for students from more than 15 towns in the region. In addition to our local students, the school enrolls up to 50 international and domestic boarding students. This results in an exciting mix of students, and the school is committed to providing an outstanding education for each of them. Reporting to the Head of School and working collaboratively with various Department Heads, the Dean of Students (DOS) shares responsibility for ensuring a positive school culture that is consistent with the mission and values of Lincoln Academy. The DOS participates in planning, goal setting, decision-making, policy formulation, staff supervision, and crisis management; shares responsibility for establishing, communicating, and implementing student discipline policies and behavioral expectations.
    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Assists in the orientation of new students, making sure that students understand the mission and values of Lincoln Academy.
    • Develops and implements advisor/advisee curriculum that supports the students, school culture, faculty needs, and is consistent with Lincoln Academy’s mission and vision.
    • Ensures that parents are informed of their child(ren’s) progress through regular communication.
    • In concert with the Head of School and Director of Special Education, manages and implements student discipline and disciplinary procedures.
    • Maintains accurate records of student discipline and attendance.
    • Assists in implementing all school-wide, state, and federal guidelines, policies, statutory requirements, and regulations.
    • Assists the Head of School in the annual revision and publication of the Student Handbook.
    • Helps to supervise students in the dining room, halls, and throughout campus at lunch.
    • Oversees and Manages the School Safety plans and Crisis Management in coordination with the Director of Facilities, the SRO, Lincoln County Sheriff’s office
    • Supervises the Class Deans, Executive Assistant to the Dean of Students, and School Resource Officer (SRO).
    OTHER DUTIES:
    • Attends weekly Administration Team meetings, faculty meetings, and when requested, Department Heads’ Meetings, and Lincoln Academy Parent Association meetings.
    • Makes referrals for professional or student support services as needed.
    • Attends outside professional meetings or conferences yearly to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of student discipline practices and student leadership programs.
    • Strives to establish relationships with each student and parent and to spend time at sporting, theater, music, and arts events, modeling in word and deed the values of Lincoln Academy.
    • Manages and plans the budget for the Office of the Dean of Students.
    • Other duties as assigned.
