Dean of Engineering manages administrative functions of the college of engineering. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Engineering leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Engineering requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Engineering manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Engineering typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Description
    The College of Engineering Dean's Office at the University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a dedicated and organized individual to fill the Student Worker II role. As a student worker in this office, you will be an integral part of the department's administrative, clerical, and research operations to support faculty and staff.
    Note: Requesting at least a two-semester commitment, with the desire to work over Summer.
    Responsibilities
    Major duties include:
    • Monitoring the administrative email account and forwarding email communication to the appropriate party, answering phones, taking messages, transferring calls and handling office reception of guests and the incoming mail
    • Processing day to day financial transactions and preparing reports as directed
    • Processing employee and student travel requests and claims, ensuring compliance with university travel policies
    • Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets and Word documents
    • Assisting with College events and other duties as assigned
    Required Qualifications
    • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
    • Candidate must have good communication skills
    • Candidate must have the ability to follow direction
    • Candidate must be a reliable self-starter who can think on his/her feet and is not afraid to ask questions
    • Candidate must be detail oriented, organized, efficient, and able to maintain confidentiality
    • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

    • Candidates with database administration and/or experience working in a professional office environment are encouraged to apply

    Expected hours to work per week: 15-20 (during the semester), tentatively up to 40 (during Summer/Winter break)
