The library assistant supports the day-to-day operations of a small academic library in Chattanooga, TN. The Richmont Graduate University Library offers a mix of digital and in-person resources to support the educational and research goals of students, faculty, and staff counselors in both the Chattanooga and Atlanta area. The library assistant may also be cross-trained to fill in other positions as necessary. While the library assistant reports to the Chattanooga campus librarian, they are expected to be able to work autonomously on occasions when no other staff is present.

The library assistant may be asked to coordinate with other library staff members to ensure off-hours coverage during the Spring, Fall, and Summer terms. The university is conducting a trial period of working Monday-Thursday from 9-5 starting August 15.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited 4-year institution.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
A willingness to cheerfully serve students and faculty, as well as public patrons.
1-2 years of experience working in libraries or related settings (such as a school, college, museum, or other cultural heritage institution) preferred.
Applicants currently working towards an M.L.I.S. or related degree will be given priority consideration.
Willing to fill-in as needed in other related roles, such as serving at the front desk.
