Dean of Graduate Programs manages administrative functions of the graduate program. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Graduate Programs leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Graduate Programs requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Graduate Programs manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Graduate Programs typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Recreation Specialist - Recreation Programs

  • The purpose of this position is to perform administrative, technical, and onsite work in the development and execution of all youth and teen programs for the City of Sunny Isles Beach.

    Position Scope:
    This is a support position for all City- Youth and Teen Programs

    This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent may be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

    • Assists in the recruitment and training of special interest instructors.
    • Assists in supervising and overseeing the performance of contractors providing instructional services and materials.
    • Maintains all personnel files and assists facilities are compliant with any licensure requirements.
    • Respond to public inquiries regarding programming.
    • Responsible for ensuring program equipment and area is prepared for programming.
    • Prepares statistical data reports on programming activities.
    • Works with the media division to design and create marketing materials, press releases, event communications, sponsor and vendor packets, and any program -related materials.
    • Works closely with the Youth and Teen coordinator to identify community resources and provide direct support to residents as needed. 
    • Promotes and markets programs and events to ensure distribution reaches entire community and beyond, on an individual basis and/or in collaboration with other City departments.
    • Works with Youth & Teen Programs Coordinator to create schedules and supervise staff: including volunteers, City personnel, and contracted employees/vendors. 
    • Ensures contracted instructor payments are made in a timely manner. 
    • Assist with Teen Talks and other Teen events. 
    • Acts as a supervisor for the C.A.S.E program, camps, All Day Fun Zone programs, and any other recreation programs offered. 
    • Periodically works at Pelican Community Park, The Spot, and other Sunny Isles Beach locations. 
    • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. 
    • Ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly communicated and understood by City personnel, as well as ensuring accountability for meeting goals and objectives.
    • Serves as onsite manager in the absence of the coordinator. 
    • Performs any other related job duties as assigned.
    • Knowledge of Youth and Teen programming.
    • Knowledge of time management with a focus on achieving immediate results. 
    • Knowledge of corporate and philanthropic community.
    • Skill in verbal and written communication.
    • Ability to lead, train, and supervise others. 
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and related resources.
    • Ability to foster a team environment and rally volunteers, peers, and City personnel to assist and commit to the success of related programs.
    • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict regarding community challenges. 
    • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, sometimes autonomously. 
    • Ability to be creative and innovative with programming.
    • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment when dealing with City personnel, contractors, vendors, and the public.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, City personnel, and other City departments.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in recreation programing planning or related field.
    • 40 Hour DCF Childcare Training.
    • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
    Licenses and/or Certifications:
    • Valid Florida driver’s license.
    • First Aid within 90 days of hire.
    • DCF Staff and/or Director Credential preferred.

    • It is the responsibility of the incumbent to maintain their licenses and/or certifications as a job requirement.
    • There is a one-year probationary period.
