Dean of Graduate Programs manages administrative functions of the graduate program. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Graduate Programs leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Graduate Programs requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Graduate Programs manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Graduate Programs typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Correctional Programs Supervisor

  • Description of Work

    Reporting to the Program Director I; this position provides programs for the rehabilitation of offenders in the prison system. Job responsibilities include; but are not limited to, the following:


    • Developing, implementing, and maintaining one or more programs for offenders. The primary program areas are education; correctional programs (work release, incentive wage; classification, volunteer programs, religion and recreation); and supportive counseling.
    • Working with community agencies to enrich programs and establish new programs.
    • Monitoring the effectiveness of community volunteer workers assigned to program activities.
    • Supervising and evaluating the job performance of subordinate staff.
    • Coordinating program activities with custody staff.
    This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

    About the NC Department of Adult Correction (DAC):
    DAC is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance and Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs and Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation and Reentry.

    Tabor Correctional Institution is located in Tabor City, North Carolina and houses up to 1750 male offenders in a close/medium/minimum custody facility.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in a human services or criminal justice field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in corrections or related work

    An equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
