Dean of Humanities manages administrative functions of the college of humanities. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Humanities leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Humanities requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Humanities manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Humanities typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Description:

    Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs this position assists in resolving complaints based on the Student Conduct Code while providing resources and support for all students.


    Essential Department Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Identify College policies and/or Student Conduct Code provisions relevant to a violation.
    • Investigates allegations related to Scot Key infractions from the initial report to findings. This includes creating an investigative plan, conducting, and reporting on witness interviews, preparing, and presenting evidence and appropriate supporting documents, and communicating with the parties and their advisors while protecting the neutrality, integrity, and privacy of the investigation.
    • Participate in providing education, training, and outreach relating to Scots Key
    • Serves as visible resource and support for all students.
    • Responds to referrals from faculty, staff, students, and parents. Connects with students who are experiencing concerns and/or crises and serves as consistent case manager to assist student in resolving concerns.
    • Responds as part of Dean's office team to student issues, concerns, and crises, as appropriate.
    • Serves as a member of the Care Team to plan and provide wrap-around support to students experiencing concerns. Partners with other campus offices on the Care Team to effectively integrate support resources.
    • Participates in 24 -hour on call emergency/duty coverage for after-hours emergencies and follow up with appropriate interventions.
    • Engages effectively with parents and family of students in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
    • Communicates with students, parents, administrators, faculty, alumni, vendors, as appropriate.
    • Collaborates with various academic offices, facilities staff, and student affairs colleagues.
    • Participates, as appropriate, in college-wide committees.
    • Represents the Dean of Students Office and Division of Student Life as requested.
    • Provides support to students as they work through Title IX and conduct matters.


    Requirements:

    Education and/or Experience

    • Master's degree in related area preferred. Minimum of five years of progressive Student Affairs' leadership experience.
    • Experience providing culturally competent support for underrepresented students as they experience intersecting systems of oppression (e.g., nationalism, racism, ableism, classism, heterosexism, cissexism).
    • Extensive knowledge of the challenges facing students from various historically underrepresented and marginalized populations (e.g., International, LGBTQIA students, BIPOC students, immigrant and undocumented students, first-generation limited-income students, students from low-income backgrounds)
    • Experience advocating for inclusive policies and practices that address institutional and societal barriers.
    • Demonstrated experience centering access, equity, inclusion, and social justice in student services and programs.
    • Experience fostering strong relationships with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and alumni.
