Dean of Humanities manages administrative functions of the college of humanities. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Humanities leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Humanities requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Humanities manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Humanities typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     St. Martin de Porres, an Independence Mission School, is currently seeking candidates for an open Dean of Academics position for the 2023-2024 school year.

    Core Responsibilities:
    • Manage and support The Child Study Team leading to successful outcomes for students.
    • Manage partnerships that provide instructional support for students.
    • Build teacher capacity through coaching, training, and instructional planning.
    • Facilitate professional development to staff aligned to core curriculum and/or identified school needs according to action plan.
    • Oversee all data reporting, testing procedures, analysis, and grading.
    • Oversee summer school and after school programming to ensure alignment to student interest and needs.
    • Assign and communicate the daily substitute assignments/schedule and provide support where needed.
    • Communicate regularly with staff and families to provide academic and school updates.
    • Perform other duties as needed or as assigned.


    Experience:
    • 5 years of teaching experience
    • Experience teaching diverse learners and differentiating instruction (preferred)
    • A track record of leading students to successfully achieve those expectations (preferred)
    • Experience working with children and communities in an urban setting (preferred)

    Certification, Degrees, and Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree (required)
    • Clearance on all required background checks (required)
