Dean of Mathematics manages administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Mathematics leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Mathematics requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Mathematics manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Mathematics typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Highlands College seeks qualified candidates to teach MATH 103: Topics in Mathematics. The position is open to candidates of all ranks.
Highlands College offers rank advancement. Faculty rank is determined when hired based on credentials and teaching experience. All full-time faculty are employees (non-contract) with a normal teaching load of 24 to 32 credit hours per academic year or as needed to meet program needs. There is no research requirement.
