Dean of Mathematics manages administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Mathematics leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Mathematics requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Mathematics manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Mathematics typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Part- or Full-Time Mathematics Teacher

    We are seeking applicants to join our team who are comfortable and confident teaching the whole range

    of high school mathematics content from Algebra/Geometry through Calculus. We also welcome

    someone who is confident in promoting and developing mindsets and skills around data analysis and

    statistics.

    The ideal candidate has a strong desire to work closely with students in grades 9-12 and develop

    meaningful relationships with them. This person should have a high level of commitment and knowledge

    to improve both content and instructional quality, as well as the experience to offer authentic exposure

    both in the classroom and beyond.

    As a member of our mathematics department and the JHCS faculty, each teacher aims to instill habits of

    critical thinking and communication through the development of inquiry and reasoning skills that

    students will draw upon in college and in life. The department’s goals are to engage students in activities

    that will enhance their investigative and problem-solving skills, as well as collect and interpret data

    graphically, numerically, orally, symbolically, and analytically.

    Other responsibilities of a full-time role may include, but are not limited to (this may not apply to

    part-time employment):

    • Leading an advisory group of 6-8 students
    • Participating in our experiential learning program (Fall Trips, MLK Day, Community Days, and

    Minimester)

    • Proactive and timely communication with colleagues, parents, and students
    • Attending occasional evening/weekend school events

    Minimum requirements include:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related field; Master’s is preferred
    • At least 2 years experience working with high school students
    • Ability to facilitate a meaningful, engaging discussion among high school students
