Dean of Mathematics manages administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Mathematics leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Mathematics requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Mathematics manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Mathematics typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. - Demonstrates gains in student performance.
- Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Prolonged periods sitting and working on the computer to complete necessary paperwork.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. This person will also be responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with GPPSS policies, goals and objectives.

Compensation:
Salary is based on the GPEA CBA, which may or may not recognize previous professional teaching experience. GPEA Members are also eligible for a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including health/dental/vision/life and long-term disability insurance. Membership in the Michigan Public Schools Employee Retirement System www.michigan.gov/ors.
