ClubXYouthniversity (CXY) is an in-person and online High Impact ELA, Math tutoring and wellness support service for children and youth in grades K-12. Our focus is on children and youth in communities most often overlooked, underserved and on the other side of the digital and economic divide. Our goal is to bridge that gap with a plethora of high quality educational and wellness support.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a flexible, vibrant, and creative tutor with an array of skills to join our growing team for our schools in BROOKLYN. If you have a passion for teaching through hands-on activities, join ClubXYouthniversity Inc.

We are seeking a tutor to engage with students in small (1:4) groups during school hours in the Fall. The ideal candidate will be comfortable teaching High Impact Math to students from 6th to 8th grade who have fallen behind their grade level. Retired teachers are welcome

Role Responsibilities

• Know the difference between tutoring vs teaching, applying principles of instruction to individual students
• Commit to a position of mentorship by being consistent and a passion-driven teacher
• Create lesson plans with the latest subject-specific content
• Teach students in small groups with a goal of building skills and confidence
• Deliver lessons using our Clubxyouthniversity whole child approach; remain fun, engaging, creative, and collaborative
• Blend learning with technology and hands-on learning
• Encouraging restorative practices that allow for fun and progressive conversations
• Help recognize strengths and challenges your students are struggling with by tuning in to their learning style
• Adjusting your teaching style to cater to a model of program designed to collab tutoring and wellness
• Be open to mindful and progressive ways to educate and empower youth
• Develop resources and effective teaching strategies to effectively scaffold learning in the classroom
• Evaluate students to measure skill progression and determine improvement areas.
• Ensure high attendance through announcements, flyers, article submissions and presentations
• Support students to develop and meet academic goals
• Help students prepare for tests
• Record and report student progress
• Attend scheduled staff meetings
• Finish and submit necessary documents.
• Develop relationships with students to build retention and improve academic success
• Formulate and execute an educational plan for success and improvement in areas centered around Math Intervention
• Foster an atmosphere of fun learning: organize, lead, and promote the students' interest and participation in the activities.
• Use a variety of applications and platforms; including social media to lead activities.
• Understand, adhere to, and enforce CXY expectations, policies, and protocols.
• Conducting him/herself in the utmost professional manner and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Maintain safety and security for our students.

Role Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, education/outreach or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 full years of teaching experience
• Experience working in a school setting highly preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour

Experience:
