Dean of Mathematics manages administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Mathematics leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Mathematics requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Mathematics manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Mathematics typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Required Qualifications:
    QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications stated below:

    Masters Degree in mathematics or applied mathematics OR

    Bachelors in any of the above AND Masters in statistics, physics, or mathematics education (If the candidate has a Masters degree in Mathematics Education then this Masters degree must have been conferred from a mathematics department at the time that the candidate obtained the degree) OR

    The equivalent OR
    Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area of Mathematics.

    REQUIRED DUTIES:
    Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
