Dean of Mathematics manages administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Mathematics leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Mathematics requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Mathematics manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     Job Summary
    The Department of Mathematics at Eastern Washington University is seeking a Special Faculty Lecturer to teach courses in mathematics and/or statistics. This 9-month appointment is for the academic year 2024/25 starting September 16, 2024 and ending June 15, 2025. The appointment may be renewed based on departmental needs.

The College of Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics prepares students to succeed in fields such as Biology, Chemistry, Computer Programming, Data Science, Geoscience, Web Design, and Computational Mathematics.
    The Department of Mathematics is a diverse department offering a variety of degrees including Bachelor’s Degrees in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Data Science and a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics.
    The typical workload for this position will involve teaching three courses per quarter (45 credits per academic year). The candidate should be able to teach a variety of mathematics courses, preferably including statistics at multiple levels. This is a teaching-only position. The position will offer opportunities to engage in collaborative research and service of interest to the candidate, but this is not a requirement.

    Required Qualifications
    • Master’s or higher degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics or closely related degree.
    • Ability to teach a wide range of courses at multiple levels and modalities.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Advance degree in Statistics or experience in teaching statistics at multiple levels.
    • College and/or K-12 mathematics teaching experience.
    • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, as instructor of record, of undergraduate mathematics coursework.
