Dean of Mathematics manages administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Mathematics leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Mathematics requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Mathematics manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Mathematics typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Description
    The Mathematics Department at Syracuse University expects to fill three Philip T. Church Postdoctoral Fellow positions, to begin between July 1, 2024 and August 16, 2024. This is a two-year position. The responsibilities include conducting research, contributing to the intellectual life of the department, and teaching; teaching load is 9 credits (3 courses) per academic year.
    Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in an area of pure or applied mathematics or statistics, and strong potential in both research and teaching.
