    Position: Director of Career Advising
    Pay Range: $65,000 - $85,000 Annual Salary Benefits.
    Schedule: Mon-Fri (FT, Exempt)

    SUMMARY
    Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education, works to coordinate many aspects of the Career Development Plan which is designed to prepare learners to be personally and professionally successful in selection of electives, residency matching, and career and leadership development.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    Coordinates all aspects of a learner's Career Plan including, but not limited to:
    • Advising faculty and learners on the Careers in Medicine platform, scheduling workshops, monitoring a learner's progress in the residency match, and assisting in their decision-making process.
    • Advises learners holistically while assisting them to clarify their personal, academic, and professional career goals.
    • Helps learners navigate institutional policies and procedures.
    • Responds to a vast array and high volume of questions - each requiring knowledge of different resources and procedures through phone calls, email, walk-ins, and scheduled appointments.
    • Recognizes different types of crisis situations and refers learners to counseling resources as deemed appropriate.
    • Works collaboratively as a team member with all faculty, staff, and administration.
    • Assists in preparation of the Medical Student Performance Evaluation letters for graduating learners.
    • Provides oversight of the Electronic Residency Application Service.
    • Provides support and guidance in development of the Curriculum Vitae and Personal Statement.
    • Manages a central repository of career information for learners, including requirements of the residency match process.
    • Maintains and improves the career advising curriculum while considering the needs specific to the DO learners it serves.
    • Designs career advising materials and ensures that learners and faculty advisors are aware of this information through the website and email communication.
    Ensures the quality, integrity, and defined standards of the department including but not limited to:
    • Participating in the production of various department related materials.
    • Collaborating with department leadership in ensuring the program sufficiently includes elements to meet or exceed accreditation standards.
    • Ensuring integration of technological advances in the delivery of the programs.
    • Constructing and implementing strategies for continuous programmatic improvement in areas of responsibility.
    • Cultivating partnership opportunities across and among various entities towards meaningful affiliations.
    • Accurately and timely maintaining and sharing academic performance data.
    • Ensuring faculty and participant, where appropriate, receive continuing educational credits and appropriate documentation is on file.
    • Contributing to the College's reputation/image of being one of the best osteopathic medical colleges.
    • Promoting and representing the College at local, state, and national events.
    • Serving on various committees and teams within the College as assigned to include advising and mentoring.
    • Contributing to College's compliance with and in the development of required documentation as related to accreditation of all programs to which departmental content is contributed.
    • Contributing to the team by performing other duties as needed/assigned.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education:
    Bachelor's degree, with preference for master's degree in health-related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 3-5 years' related work experience, preferable in an academic environment.

    Experience:
    Three-five years' experience working in an academic or clinical setting; two years academic or clinical administration or related experience.

    Skills & Abilities:
    • Excellent oral & written communication skills
    • Ability to understand, assess and use professional judgement.
    • Knowlege in information technology as it relates to medical and surgical simulation to include robotic, haptic, and virtual technologies.
    • Knowledge in instructional technology systems.
    • Ability to set priorities, project timelines and meet deadlines, while balancing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while ensuring accurate output.
    • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and effectively handle frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to work in a team environment yet work well independently.
    • Effective use of diplomacy, tact, and judgment is required.
