SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of Students is responsible for supervising the Student Success Division of IAIA including all Admissions/ Recruitment, Student Life and Student Success Center Associate Deans, and Directors. The Dean of Students also provides strategic leadership and management oversight, which includes effectively leveraging the staff, budget and resources of 12 key Student Success Division functions:

The Dean of Students will lead IAIA’s recruitment and retention efforts, student life programs and the tracking of student success, which includes working with the Department of Institutional Research to provide timely and accurate enrollment, retention data analysis. The incumbent has strategic oversight of Student Success Center, Admissions/Recruitment Office and Student Life Department to focus and ensure the experience, knowledge; expertise and talent of the departments are brought together by the Dean to meet the needs of IAIA students. Support the vision, mission and core values of IAIA.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Provide strategic leadership which includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

Create a strategic vision and leadership for the integrated delivery of the Institute's enrollment and retention programs and functions.

Assist the Provost with the development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of enrollment management goals, student support programs and activities.
-
Produce measurable recruitment and retention outcomes.
-
Oversee the IAIA Student Counseling Program.
-
Provide leadership, and serve as a resource in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Institute’s strategic enrollment management plans and related reporting requirements.
-
Serve on division and Institute-wide committees.
-
Remain current and knowledge of best practices in nationally recognized retention strategies, as well as Higher Learning Commission accreditation standards; policies and guidelines related to retention and accreditation reports.

Analyze, interpret, and communicate recruitment and retention findings to senior leadership.
-
Plan, create and implement the use of effective retention activities to enhance student success across campus.
-
Oversee federal compliance regarding Veteran Services Enrollment verification through VA Once federal system.
-
Oversee ADA and DEI Services and support to students.
-
Select, manage, develop, motivate, and evaluate Student Services Division staff.
-
Write and manage grants related to the Student Services Division.
-
Represent and act on behalf of the Provost as assigned.
-
Maintain membership in professional organizations.
Requirements:
Develop strategic management of related Student Services programs and efforts, which includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
-
Assess effectiveness of student services programs and activities.
-
Work with Committees and representative groups to make appropriate adjustments to policies to remain continuously proactive and responsive to external forces and the Institute’s needs.
-
Lead efforts to determine the causes of attrition and the factors that promote student persistence and graduation; and coordinate with relevant departments of the Institute to achieve steady improvements in persistence and graduation rates.

Optimize the use of financial aid to recruit diverse cohorts.
-
Plan, develop, implement and assess programs that support educational experiences which enrich the academic environment and promote student progress toward degree attainment.

Work with the Institutional Research department to research, analysis, and development of regular reports on Institute enrollment and student characteristics.
Collaborate and partner with key departments, constituents and staff, which includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
-
Collaborate with marketing staff to create, implement, and evaluate marketing communications in support of student services programs.
-
Collaborate with Institutional Advancement staff to continually scan and respond to the internal and external environment to advance the Institute’s standing, effectiveness and reputation as it relates to enrollment management.

Development of student services programs and initiatives to appropriately engage faculty, staff, students, alumni, trustees and parents in the enrollment effort.

Collaborate across the organization to enhance student services and to provide Institute-wide coordination and support.
-
Maintain memberships and participate in appropriate professional organizations.
-
Provide leadership and direction in the collaborative planning and coordination of the annual commencement ceremony.
-
Work with the Provost and Academic Dean in matters of instrument selection and design, test cohort selection and related test and measurement issues to improve retention.
Provide strategic and tactical leadership and management of Student Success Center (SSC) operations and administration, which includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

Provide administrative oversight for departmental finances, personnel, evaluation and assessment, action plans and daily operations.
-
Chair the Student Services Committee and ensure the development, implementation, and administration of student life and student service policies.
-
Ensure the provision of high quality, customer-oriented service and support in enrollment services and processes.
-
Develop and oversee the annual budgets for all student success/admissions departments.
-
Interpret and implement state/federal regulations and Institute policies and procedures related to admissions, registration, advising and financial aid and ensure compliance with related program, state, and federal rules, laws, and regulations.

Function as the Super-User for IAIA’s Empower (student information system) database.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
The incumbent must have Master of Education degree and at least ten years managing, evaluating and developing a student affairs or academic affairs program in a higher education environment, of comparable scope and complexity. The incumbent must also have at least five years of experience in developing and coordinating multiple programs of a high degree of difficulty. PREFERRED: Prior strategic experience of higher education model comparable to the “One-Stop-Shop” focus of a Student Success Center and Student Life Programming.

Demonstrated experience, skill and knowledge in strategically leading and directing multiple student programs related to Student Services at the college level.

Demonstrated ability to oversee, control, manage and monitor multiple department budgets.

Direct hands-on knowledge and expertise of federal student financial aid policies.

Demonstrated experience in effectively hiring, leading, developing, motivating and managing a large and complex student support staff.

Ability to interact constructively with local, regional, national and tribal personnel, agencies and organizations.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels and with all people and groups.

Ability to prepare and present senior-level presentations to a wide-range of key stakeholders.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to read and interpret basic to complex data/information/guidelines/procedures, etc. related to a wide-range of student support services, such as student enrollment, retention, student life services, counseling, housing, child care facility, food services, Remind app, financial aid, student accounts, scholarship/career, DEI Guidelines, ADA/Veteran guidelines, enrollment and accreditation.

Ability to interact and communicate (in writing or verbal) effectively with a wide-range of audiences and at all organizational levels.

Incumbent may be asked by the Provost to perform other duties/projects/assignments, as needed.

Occasional out-of-town travel for meetings and conferences using personal vehicle/company vehicle or air transportation may be required.

Performance evaluation will be determined based on performance results of job duties as described herein as well as attainment of annual strategic work plan goals.
