Dean of Nursing manages administrative functions of the college of nursing. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Nursing leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Additionally, Dean of Nursing requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. Requires certification as a registered nurse. The Dean of Nursing manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Nursing typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. The Associate Dean will work with the Acting Provost and Academic Dean to provide administrative leadership in areas of program and curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource management, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management.

    This highly-visible position will represent the La Roche University Nursing and Allied Health programs both by serving on University committees, and by attending community functions.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership in the development of new nursing and health programs, to include initiative in maintaining and improving the quality of instruction.
    • Ensure compliance with all required state and federal nursing and nursing education regulations.
    • Manage the accreditation process and facilitate the completion of all activities required to maintain a positive program accreditation, including participating in related professional development activities, timely submission of required materials, and needed correspondence with accrediting bodies.
    • Provide ongoing mentorship and advisement in developing and implementing evaluation and review systems for faculty, courses, and programs, and providing data and reports as needed.
    • Collaborate with department heads to assess clinical facility placement needs and evaluate the quality of clinical facilities in accordance with the Board of Nursing and relevant health association boards.
    • Monitor budgets and equipment needs; actively pursue grants and outside funding sources.
    • Assess effectiveness of nursing student admissions process and assist in the implementation of the University's Strategic Plan.

    Education/Qualifications:

    • Doctoral Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution
    • Unrestricted Pennsylvania RN licensure
    • Five years of experience in academic, clinical, or administrative nursing, or any combination thereof
    • Experience working with nursing accreditation and/or state regulatory agencies
    • Strong understanding of nursing education.
    • Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
