Dean of Pharmacy manages administrative functions of the college of pharmacy. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Pharmacy leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Pharmacy requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Pharmacy manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Pharmacy typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Youth Apprentices in our Pharmacy Assistant career pathway assist with the vital function of assuring patients receive accurate and timely prescription ordersYou’ll work with a pharmacy care team with an experienced professional who will serve as your mentor and will help guide your training while providing ongoing support in the role.  

     

    Job Details  

    • Effectively work as part of a team, communicate effectively with close attention to details 

    • Maintain academic and attendance requirements for participation in the Youth Apprenticeship Program 

    • Participate in progress reviews scheduled with mentors, school staff, parent(s) or guardian(s), and employer 

    • Prepare supplies and instruments and monitor inventory while maintaining pharmacy records and other documents 

    • Assist with placing and distributing medication and supply orders and helping customers both in person and via telephone 

    • Provide support to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in the packing and delivery of medications to customers in compliance with state and federal regulations 

    • Perform other duties as assigned 

     

    Education and Experience Requirements 

    • High school junior or senior  

    • 16 years of age 

    • Must be authorized and approved by the Wisconsin Youth Apprentice Program in accordance with your local school criteria  

    • Reliable transportation to get to and from work 

    • Satisfactory progress towards graduation 

    • Commit to completing 450 hours at the jobsite (10-15 hours per week) 

    • Demonstrated maturity and responsibility 

    • Skill with attending to details, excellent attendance and a strong work ethic 

    • Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication

    Job Summary:

    Under direct supervision, assists with the duties and responsibilities of the clinical role being studied. All work performed is reviewed by clinical supervisor or designee.

    Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assists with the duties and responsibilities of the clinical role being studied based on the applicable Youth Apprenticeship on-the-job learning performance standards guide.
    • Apprenticeship may involve working in one the following areas: Lab, Therapy, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy, Imaging, Nursing Assistant, etc.
    • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION

    • Must be at least 16 years of age prior to start date and current high school student.
    • Acceptance into Youth Apprenticeship program through local high school.

    EXPERIENCE

    • No experience required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
    • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
    • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
    • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
    • Rare climbing.
