Dean of Sciences jobs in Champaign, IL
Dean of Sciences manages administrative functions of the college of science. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Sciences leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Sciences requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Sciences manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Sciences typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. The Division Dean has the responsibility for successfully giving direction to the academic curriculum of his/her respective division.
Required Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Education Administration or one of the respective division disciplines
or related field
· Significant teaching and/or administrative experience
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Knowledge and experience with the utilization of Instruction Technology
Desirable Qualifications:
· Five years of supervisory experience at the college level
· Twenty graduate hours in administration and supervision
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
