Dean of Sciences manages administrative functions of the college of science. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Sciences leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Sciences requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Sciences manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Sciences typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Requirements:
15 years of experience in manufacturing, 10 of those years in a team leadership role managing a financial budget/delivering financial performance and at least 2 years in a previous plant management position.
4-year degree in Engineering, Business, or close equivalent; MBA preferred
Demonstrated evidence of team development, performance improvement, creating and living up to a shared set of values
Foresight, vision, ability to set and achieve long-term plans.
Ability to deliver results through others/teamwork, encourages participative decision-making.
Excellent interpersonal & communications skills
Working knowledge of FDA regulations & other medical device regulatory compliance requirements; experience leading in a regulated environment preferred
Proficiency in problem solving & decision-making skills.
High level of knowledge in both lean manufacturing and world-class manufacturing principles
Ability to plan, organize, budget.
Experience leading through change.
Action-oriented, results driven.
Continually learning works on personal development, learns through experience.
