Elementary Dean of Students

Job Description

Scope 

The Dean of Students works efficiently with the Principal to coordinate and direct all aspects of the program on the individual campus.  They will facilitate disciplinary action for the student as needed and in accordance with the Family and Faculty handbook.  The Dean of Students will also serve to develop and implement a guidance program that includes: (1) dependence on God, (2) the use of the scriptures, (3) the love and concern of others, and (4) the understanding of basic principles of biblical guidance and counseling. Other responsibilities shall be carried out under the direction and guidance of the Principal.

Qualifications

The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:

• A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit 
• A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school 
• Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy
• Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind

The ideal candidate shall possess the following:

• A Master's degree in School Counseling or School Administration and Leadership preferred
• Eligibility for ACSI certification

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

• Facilitate any necessary disciplinary correction for students

• Work closely with the Office of Admissions to help coordinate school admissions
• Assist the Principal in the interviewing of prospective families
• Attend regular teacher, lead teacher and support personnel meetings
• Assist in teacher and staff evaluations
• Conduct tours when needed
• Act as the liaison between faculty and all administrative offices
• Assist in the implementation of the academic programs, including the writing of curriculum
• Attend necessary workshops and conferences to remain current on educational and spiritual issues
• Assist with the updating of Family and Faculty handbooks
• Work closely with the principal and education resources to implement program in the classrooms

• Delivery of directions and procedures are clear and understood by teachers/staff
• Ongoing counseling for students
• Teachers are fully trained in methods and styles of communications for handling their guidance responsibilities

Reporting Relationship 

The Dean of Students is accountable to the Elementary Principal.
