    Job Summary:
    The Associate Dean serves as the chief conduct officer and is responsible for the overall administration of the student disciplinary system, overseeing behavioral and academic misconduct procedures and cases. Additionally, the Associate Dean provides overall supervision and direction to the staff in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. This individual serves on the leadership team of the Dean of Students Office and as such will serve the university in various capacities related to students. This individual will need to be committed to a non-adversarial, educational, and learning-based conduct philosophy and ensure that all educational programs, sanctions and hearings reinforce the overall concept of student development. Responsible for managing heavy caseload of approximately 300 or more cases per year.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.

    Position Qualifications:
    Master’s degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Educational Administration, or related area and four years of student conduct experience; or a bachelor’s degree in or related area of specialization and six years of student conduct experience. Experience leading and facilitating the conduct process. This includes conducting, investigating, and adjudicating student conduct, academic misconduct, and admission clearance cases, through hearings and educational conferences. Ability to handle a heavy caseload of 300 cases per year.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience using Maxient and overseeing programs and/or support services in higher education setting; extensive knowledge of due process and student conduct procedures and best practices; working knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Clery Act, Title IX as well as other applicable federal/state guidelines and laws that affect the practice of student conduct administration.
    Works independently, strategically, and functions well in a high-paced, non-routine environment. Exhibit strong administrative and communication skills, mature judgment and sound decision making skills. Sound understanding of student development

    Essential Functions / Job Duties:
    • 35% - Directs the day to day administrative operations of the Office of Student Rights and responsibilities including the supervision of professional and student staff; manages the maintenance and retention of student conduct records including holds and transcript notifications; maintains oversight of the student conduct database; oversees the student non-academic and academic conduct processes including student organization conduct and hazing cases; develops policies and regulations pertaining to student behavior; establishes community standards and expectations; promotes student learning; responsible for updates to the student handbook; supports the safety and wellbeing of the campus community; investigates conduct cases and serves as a hearing officer for disciplinary proceedings; and serves as the primary contact for student behavior concerns within the campus community (chief conduct officer). - (Essential)
    • 25% - Administers the academic conduct process in collaboration with the Office of the Provost and faculty. Serves in a consultative role regarding academic conduct issues and concerns; oversees the outreach, marketing, and educational efforts related to the Code of Academic Conduct; convenes the Academic Conduct Committee coordinating the recruitment, development and training of the student conduct and academic conduct hearing board members; collects, analyzes and provides data and trends related to academic conduct. - (Essential)
    • 15% - Oversees admission clearance process, ensuring thorough review of applicants of concern before determining admission status based on previous behaviors. - (Essential)
    • 10% - Directs assessment planning and reporting for Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities; researches and tracks national, state and campus trends and reports on those trends; monitors and assesses student organization, FSL and residence life conduct trends; assures compliance with relevant laws including the Clery Act, Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, FERPA and other relevant local, state, and federal laws. - (Essential)
    • 5% - Provides education, training, outreach and consultation to campus partners including Housing and Residence Life, Athletics, Academic Affairs, hearing board participants, students, families, and other partners; serves on university committees; and represents the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities at various campus events. - (Essential)
    • 5% - Oversight of crisis and risk management responsibilities including responding to crisis by serving in the Dean of Students Office on-call duty rotation; being available to consult with university staff regarding urgent student behavioral issues; serves as a back-up to the Senior Associate Dean of Students; assists in the oversight of risk management activities such as student tailgates, free expression events and activities and other student events in which assistance may be needed. - (Essential)
