Dean of Students provides strategic initiatives and direction for student affairs. Ensures the delivery of effective and quality service to students in the following areas: student housing, counseling, student conduct, and orientation. Being a Dean of Students counsels the top management regarding overall student morale and services. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Dean of Students typically reports to top management. The Dean of Students manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Job Summary:
The Dean of Employment Experiences supports Bethel College’s strategic priority to become a federally designated work college by 2030. The actions of the Dean must include the integration of employment experiences into the curriculum as well as the co-curricular life of the students. The Dean will also need to lead efforts related to the assessment of the program and further development of program partnerships in the surrounding community and broader world. The Dean must also be an advocate for the college and the program itself, emphasizing its unique contributions to the well-being of our students and uniqueness in the higher education space.
Essential Functions:
· Support the mission, vision, and values of Bethel College.
· Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to learn and adapt to changing work processes.
· Serve on the President’s Executive Cabinet, providing strategic leadership and collaborative efforts that increase employment opportunities and vocational development in the college community
· Provide direction and support in the continued design, implementation, and operation of the Employment Experiences Program.
· Identify and develop employment experiences for our students, both on campus and off-campus.
· Represent the college’s interests in employment matters to the Newton and North Newton communities and the broader national scene.
· Provide details regarding the college’s Employment Experience Program and associated programs.
· Develop, execute, and evaluate the effectiveness of the Employment Experiences Program and work-related curriculum at Bethel College.
· Support individual students in their employment development through individual or group meetings
· Assure that student workers and supervisors are being held to high standards and expectations.
· Supervise students.
· Be the primary point of contact for critical partnerships and vendors (e.g., CIC NetVUE program, Accredible, Handshake).
· Satisfy the duties of a Campus Security Authority (CSA) relating to Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (“Clery Act”) and satisfy the duties of an Official with Authority (OWA) and Mandated Reporter relating to Title IX and the Bethel College Equal Opportunity, Harassment, & Non-Discrimination Policy and Procedures.
· Comply with Bethel College policies and procedures.
Education & Experience:
· Master’s degree required.
· Additional workforce development or career certificates would be viewed favorably.
· Experience in workforce development, student life, curricular development, marketing and/or assessment are favorable for the requirements of the position.
