Dean of Undergraduate Programs manages administrative functions of the undergraduate program. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Undergraduate Programs leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Undergraduate Programs requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Undergraduate Programs manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Supplemental Instructor for Law Enforcement Programs who will be all-in on our mission and who will perform duties primarily related to the instruction of courses assigned subject matter areas.

    GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION

    • Required:
      • TCOLE Certified Peace Officer, Corrections Officer, or Tele-communicator, and/or
      • TCOLE Basic Instructor Certification, and/or be a subject matter expert in the topic of instruction.

    EXPERIENCE

    • Required: Special experience, licenses, certifications, or training related to the topic of instruction.

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide supplemental classroom instruction for applicable programs.
    • Perform effective teaching activities, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research and internships.
    • Plan, develop and present organized instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.
    • Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration, and general policy.
    • Complete appropriate administrative paperwork and performance evaluations in a timely manner.
    • Participate in department, division and college meetings as assigned or required.
    • Assume responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and in the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Demonstrate and maintain competence in the use of instructional technology.
    • Demonstrate competence in his/her teaching field and related technologies.
    • Knowledge of College policies.
    • Ability to work under stress.
    • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
    • Ability to deal with people in a professional manner.
    • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

    Salary: Pay grade 11, $35.00/hour

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies up to 50 pounds as needed.

    Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

    Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
