Dean of Undergraduate Programs manages administrative functions of the undergraduate program. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Undergraduate Programs leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Undergraduate Programs requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Undergraduate Programs manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Brief Statement of Duties

    Brief Statement of Duties:
    Provide administrative leadership in compliance with federal regulations for the McNair Scholars Program including grant writing and program development; undergraduate research programs staff development and supervision; budget development, maintenance, and management; and direct student contact and counseling. Provide campus leadership for undergraduate research initiatives and support for undergraduate research events.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Required Education:
    Master's Degree

    Discipline / Degree Area:
    Student Affairs Administration, Counseling, Psychology, or a McNair Scholars related field

    Required Specialized Training/Certifications:

    Required Minimum Work Experience:
    Three years' experience in administration of TRIO or student affairs programs.
    Three years' effective supervisory/leadership experience.
    Experience working with low-income, first-generation, and under-represented students at the college level.

    Strong interpersonal, collaboration and networking skills.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
    Self-directed and highly organized.
    Demonstrated experience working with funded programs.
    Strong data collection, management and reporting skills.
    Time management skills.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database management, social media and/or Email communication with the ability to learn additional programs.
    Ability to work with sensitive and confidential student information.

    Additional Desirable Qualifications

    Additional Desirable Qualifications:
    Applied experience with the graduate research, research publication, or grant-writing processes.
    Familiarity with academic and student personnel policies and procedures, particularly with respect to graduate admissions and student retention; experience with program assessment and benchmarking.
