Dean of Undergraduate Programs manages administrative functions of the undergraduate program. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Undergraduate Programs leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Undergraduate Programs requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Undergraduate Programs manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. The Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs manages the enrollment and advising portion of the graduate student life cycle, ensuring the efficiency of graduate program processes and systems, and ensuring that students can maximize the value of their Freeman graduate education. The position works closely with the Office of Graduate Admissions and the Career Management Center.
The Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs is responsible for the successful leadership and management, according to the strategic direction established by the Freeman School and its Faculty, of the Graduate Programs unit on its New Orleans campus. Programs include the full-time Master of Business Administration, part-time Professional Master of Business Administration, Master of Accounting, Master of Business Analytics, Master of Finance, and Master of Management in Energy. The Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs and works closely with faculty program directors and program curriculum committees.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the processes and systems employed by graduate business schools to enroll and advise with respect to educational and extracurricular opportunities.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex ideas in both written and verbal formats, ensuring accessibility to diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with systems, software, and technologies commonly used to effectively/efficiently manage curricula management, student enrollment, and student advising.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
- A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people.
Required Education and/or Experience
An MBA Degree or other graduate degree in business:
- At least ten years of experience in graduate business education, including at least five years of significant managerial/supervisory experience.
