Dean of Undergraduate Programs manages administrative functions of the undergraduate program. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Undergraduate Programs leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Undergraduate Programs requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Undergraduate Programs manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     General statement of duties:
    Academic Advisors provide high quality academic advising to Webster University students, both online and in person. Advisors assist students in the creation of educational plans that promote student success, align with the student's academic and career goals, and follow academic curriculum requirements. Advisors are expected to understand, interpret, and communicate academic policy and procedure, to both students, and colleagues across the institution. Proactive advising approaches focused on student retention and completion are integral and advisors may engage in intrusive advising and continuous follow-up to at-risk students. By building relationships with academic units and other academic/student development partners, advisors can guide and refer students to appropriate resources. Advisors obtain and share knowledge across multiple disciplines. Advisors are responsible to their students, their institution, their professional practice, for involving others, to higher education, and to themselves.

    Essential Duties and responsibilities:
    Develop broad skills that apply to all Webster University programs, but may be assigned to a specific program or school/college
    Assist students in developing educational plans that are consistent with academic and professional goals of student
    Provide students with accurate information about academic progression and degree requirements
    Teach advisees skills and knowledge to promote student retention and success
    Assist students in overcoming educational concerns
    Help students access campus resources that will increase academic success
    Refer students to appropriate campus resources
    Evaluate student progress
    Evaluate and determine the transfer of credits
    Review, collect, and utilize data about student academic and educational needs, performance, retention, completion, and concerns
    Acquire and share knowledge across multiple academic disciplines
    Understand, interpret, and communicate academic policy and procedure
    Collaborate with faculty and other service units across campus
    Orient new students to the university
    Engage in career advising

    Secondary duties and responsibilities:
    Participate in events and recruitment activities
    Serve on university committees
    Utilize a variety of technology systems to assist in delivering advising and retention
    Serve as a resource for other advisors, faculty, and university colleagues
    Contribute to the vision of Webster University and Academic Advising
    Understand and attention to student development and relevant theories
    Engage in appropriate professional development activities
    Demonstrate respect for all individuals

    Minimum Qualifications
    Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, or other relevant field

    Preferred Qualifications
    Experience in higher education, preferably advising, student affairs, or teaching
