Decision Support Project Specialist provides technical guidance and solutions to user groups working with decision support software and data tools. Analyzes user requirements and evaluates functionality and configuration options available for existing and new software. Being a Decision Support Project Specialist delivers user training and coaching to facilitate problem solving and decision making using hardware, software, datamarts, and data warehouses. Plans, coordinates and monitors projects to prepare, test, and deploy decision support tools, reports, dashboards and models to users. Additionally, Decision Support Project Specialist troubleshoots and resolves problems. May have specialized knowledge of a particular software product tool or module that is utilized. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Decision Support Project Specialist is a specialist on complex technical and business matters. Erie 1 BOCES has an immediate opening for a Data Support Specialist to assist school districts with the data collection and reporting process for mandated state reporting. Responsibilities include helping school personnel understand state reporting requirements; correcting errors in data collection; managing critical data flows and timelines; developing training materials and documentation; and keeping the schools on track with deadlines.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Analyzes current systems and procedures for the purpose of proposing and developing modifications and improvements to existing systems. Establishes and maintains standards to most efficiently utilize the processing of software and data on various technology platforms and systems.
2. Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of computer applications.
3. Installs, customizes, and maintains various software applications.
4. Acts as the liaison between users in the district and the organization (Management and Student Services, as well as other technology departments).
5. Evaluates, describes, and organizes data requirements and file structures.
6. Analyzes, defines and designs requirement statements outlining the steps required to effect their solutions.
7. Provides application and operating system training, support and instruction to school district personnel.
8. Develops procedure manuals for technical and non-technical users to aid in processing application software programs.
9. Organizes and prepares system documentation and procedures.
10. Studies and evaluates substantive program requirements and operational methods and procedures for the purpose of determining the feasibility of adapting them to new technology methods, as well as, the implementation of the same.
11. Performs hardware and software evaluations and provides management with written and oral recommendations.
12. Provides support in the area of project coordination, management, and tracking.
13. Configure and support peripheral software and/or hardware for supported applications.
14. Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor
