Decision Support Analyst

  • This position will be responsible for assisting with the implementation, roll-out, maintenance, and validation of the financial decision-support solutions for all of Johns Hopkins Medicine. The qualified candidate will perform the routine monthly maintenance processes for the data structures within the solutions; assist with the documentation of procedures, data structures, and databases used in decision support; assist with meaningful analyses utilizing this data; and support the education and training of all decision support end users. The Decision Support Analyst must have the ability to independently perform analytical and system maintenance tasks and must have a thorough understanding of decision support-based functionality.

    Maintenance of Decision Support solutions:

    Consolidate data from multiple sources, including electronic health records (EHR), financial decision support systems, and operational databases.

    Understanding of financial budgeting, cost accounting, and patient financial & clinical concepts.

    Conducts deep-dive analysis and validation procedures to reconcile and validate data from the source and within the financial decision support application.

    Completes monthly/annual updates and maintenance within applicable systems.

    Financial Decision Support functions:

    Collaborate with team members in Finance, Budget, and Information Technology to assess data needs and proactively provide support in areas such as process improvement, structure enhancements, and ad hoc requests.

    Assist in long-term strategic planning to standardize decision support initiatives.

    Maintain spreadsheets, databases, and tracking tools for analysis to support all affiliates within Johns Hopkins Medicine.

    Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or related field.

    Requires a minimum of three to five years of experience in decision support and cost accounting systems within a healthcare setting.

    Requires proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, and Excel, as well as support data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, etc.); Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including (but not limited to) Access, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word; Preferred experience with maintaining systems and programming skills like SQL, other languages; Preferred knowledge of cost accounting principles, budget processes, and financial analysis.

    Ability to demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks and deliverables. Initiative, organizational skills, and the ability to be a “self-starter" are essential; Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; Ability to deliver information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner to effectively engage others and achieve desired results; Experience with SAP or other ERP systems like Oracle, Workday etc. is preferred; Exchanges information as appropriate requiring excellent oral and written communication; Works effectively as a part of a team, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment; Ability to develop and strengthen collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
