Decision Support Specialist provides guidance and solutions to users working with decision support software and data tools. Assists in the preparation, deployment, and delivery of decision support tools to users. Being a Decision Support Specialist analyzes user requirements and evaluates functionality and configuration options available for existing and new software. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Decision Support Specialist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Decision Support Specialist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Under the direction of the Director Budgeting and Decision Support, assists in the development of the Hosptal's revenue, expense, and capital budgets. Regularly monitors budget reports (Cost per Unit of Service, Overtime reports, etc.) for variances and works with Hospital Directors to effect change through Corrective Action Plans.
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required. Five (5) years of experience in accounting or financial analysis required, two (2) of which include healthcare. Prior experience in the budgeting process with a demonstrated ability to resolve problems accurately and expeditiously is a must. Knowledge of the State of New Jersey Office of Management and Budgets (OMB) budget requirements and the Banner financial system is a plus. Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to develop and produce ad hoc financial reports as needed. Ideal candidate should also have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and a demonstrated ability to work well with others.
