Deli Counter Manager oversees operations and staffing for the deli department within a grocery store. Manages deli product and merchandise sales functions, suggests changes to inventory and pricing, and purchases supplies when needed. Being a Deli Counter Manager monitors quality of goods and service. Responsible for department staff training, assignments, and scheduling. Additionally, Deli Counter Manager requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. Reconciles discrepancies in inventories and notifies Supervisor or Group Lead of irregularities. Prepare and submit inventory control reports as needed. Responds to inquiries regarding products and inventories.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Cycle count raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, and non-conforming materials on a daily basis.
    • Utilize EPICOR software to process cycle counts, review on-hand inventory, current activity, and past activity.
    • Ensure materials are in proper locations. Conducts searches in order to locate misclassified inventory.
    • Open cartons, bundles, and other containers to count items and/or weigh materials to determine quantity on hand. Weigh and mark / label product displaying remaining product left
    • Report discrepancies of over/under amounts and any damaged products to supervision - publish weekly, monthly and quarterly inventory metrics
    • Communicate and develop process enhancements as needed (performs root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and recommends process improvements to eliminate them)
    • Other duties as assigned to support the business needs.

    Education

    High School Degree or Equivalent required.

    Skills and Requirements

    • PC Skills – specifically Excel
    • Inventory control, stock clerk, order picker, cycle counting experience
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to operate stand-up stacker and forklifts
    • Ability to use mathematical functions to calculate weights
    • Ability to handle multiple requests and provide a rapid response
    • Ability to work in a fast pace team-based environment

    Working Environment

    Work is generally performed in a warehouse and/or plant production environment. The noise level may range from moderately quiet to loud. Generally well ventilated and well lighted. Warehouse employees may be exposed to all kinds of weather and may be required to wear protective clothing. Operates heavy equipment. Strict safety regulations required.

    Physical Requirements

    Work is physically strenuous and workers are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds. Employee may be required to do the following: excessive bending or stooping, walk long distances repeatedly throughout the day, sit and drive a vehicle to perform their job, climb ladders, use heavy machinery (e.g. forklifts etc.).

    Mental Requirements

    Employee required to organize and coordinate schedules, analyze and interpret complex data, calibrate precise measurements, problem solve and self-directed.
