Being a Dental Assistant hands instruments to the dentist and helps during treatment. Ensures all instruments are sterile and follows infection control protocols. Additionally, Dental Assistant records treatment notes and updates patient records. May take and process x-rays. May require an associate degree in dental assisting or equivalent. Has Basic Life Support (BLS) and depending on state, may have licensing requirement. Typically reports to a dentist. The Dental Assistant works under moderate supervision. Experience:
- Expanded Duty Dental Assistant or relevant dental experience preferred
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM technology for digital impressions is a plus
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members
- Excellent organizational skills to manage patient schedules and maintain an efficient workflow
- Ability to perform basic patient assessments including taking vital signs
- Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and maintaining radiation safety protocols
