Design Director directs and oversees CAE technical and team capability to support product, component, or structure design. Provides expertise and technical leadershipfor benchmarking, concept design, prototype development, simulation, testing protocols, and optimization utilizing CAE design and analysis techniques and tools. Being a Design Director develops and optimizes CAE methodology, including guidelines and standards, to increase design process efficiency. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Additionally, Design Director typically reports to senior management. The Design Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Design Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Available Position: Design Director
Office Location: Boston Massachusetts (not a remote position)
Responsibilities:
This position requires an ability to manage a busy Design Team from day-to-day functions to seeing a project through from start to finish. This will include assisting in documentation from existing conditions through to completion of construction level drawings, preparation of vision boards, and working collaboratively with our production team to assemble estimated construction costs in the Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documentation phases (including construction administration.) The Design Director will oversee all production in the Design team, attend internal/external meetings, perform quality control for various size projects, manage Design Team members at various levels and create a collaborative environment within Design Team and beyond. Candidate must be able to lead a team of designers to create creative and inspiring spaces.
