Design Director directs and oversees CAE technical and team capability to support product, component, or structure design. Provides expertise and technical leadershipfor benchmarking, concept design, prototype development, simulation, testing protocols, and optimization utilizing CAE design and analysis techniques and tools. Being a Design Director develops and optimizes CAE methodology, including guidelines and standards, to increase design process efficiency. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Additionally, Design Director typically reports to senior management. The Design Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     POSITION SUMMARY:

    The main duty of the Roastery Production Team Member is to assist the Team Members with all of the daily functions related to coffee production. Duties include but are not limited to organizing green bean staging areas, labeling bags, blending and flavoring beans, bagging roasted coffees, preparing customer orders, washing and cleaning all equipment and areas.

    The goal of the roastery is to produce the best coffee available anywhere and to ensure that the beans our retail and wholesale customers receive exceed their expectations. Expectations for all team members is to engage in on-going education and training regarding coffee growth, production, and other aspects of roasting for themselves, their co-workers, and community.

    Roastery Team Members may perform maintenance on various coffee brewing and other coffee equipment for retail and wholesale customers once trained as well as production of labels and other materials needed to completed orders.

    Benefits:

    · All Roastery Team Members are able to take home 2lbs of coffee a month, coffee and tea are provided to all employees.

    · All staff that work at Coffee By Design for one consecutive year during the preceding calendar year may participate in Coffee By Design’s 401K plan. Coffee By Design will match his/her contribution up to 4% of the employee’s W-2 compensation. Coffee By Design may elect a lower match for two out of any five years, of not less than 1%, and must notify employees of the change at least 60 days before the beginning of the year.

    · One of the benefits we are working hardest on is health insurance. At present, Coffee By Design offers health insurance to all roastery team members the first of the month following thirty days of employment. Coffee By Design pays 70% of the health insurance premium whichever plan the staff member selects. Currently, there are three Harvard Pilgrim plans from which staff may choose.

    · All full-time staff members at Coffee By Design receive paid vacation after the completion of one full year. Pay is figured by the average gross wages received each week during the year. Staff members qualify for vacation time after a full year of continuous employment unless otherwise discussed and that full-time status requires 30 hours per week on a regular basis. After three years, you receive two weeks.

    · Our payroll period runs from Monday through closing Sunday. Any necessary adjustments to payroll needing to be made (forgot to sign out, etc.) must be done no later than Friday at close of business.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES:

    · Responsible for preparing roasted coffee beans according to specifications in order to ensure a consistent product which is prepared as efficiently as possible, while keeping quality high and waste to a minimum.

    · Tasks requiring manual dexterity with hands for 6-8 hours. This includes sticking bags, filling bags with coffee and filling bags with coffee.

    · Must be able to manually load weigh fills- ABLE to pick up 25-35 pounds over your head.

    · Responsible for accurately weighing, grinding, and packaging coffee according to customer orders.

    · Blending coffees

    · Packaging wholesale orders

    · Taking wholesale orders over the phone and in person

    · Responsible for cleaning and maintaining roasters / roasting areas to ensure personal and co-worker safety and product integrity.

    · Responsible for continuing coffee knowledge and education by attending industry events, classes, and reviewing industry publications.

    · Responsible for workflow needs and making necessary adjustments with input from Head Roaster / Production Manager.

    · Conduct wholesale product inventories as directed

    · Unload trucks, check-in green bean orders and place in stockroom area when needed

    · Maintain overall cleanliness and appearance of the roastery including dusting, mopping, minor repairs and maintenance of the roaster.

    · Assisting equipment installation and repair (Training provided).

    · Responsible that the facility is secure at all times which includes double-checking that all equipment is turned off at the end of the work day and doors licked if you are the last Team Member to leave.

    SCOPE OF SUPERVISION AND AUTHORITY:

    Coffee Roastery Team Members perform daily activities under the general direction of the Roaster / Production Shift Leader. Some duties requiring working directly with another team member(s), others independently.

    The Production Assistant performs daily duties with minimal supervision to maintain and repair equipment as needed. Training on equipment Coffee By Design uses both at wholesale and their own retail locations will be provided.

    EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

    · Must be focused and able to lift at least 50 lbs.

    · Must be over the age of 18

    · Some customer service experience desirable.

    · Attentive to detail and ability to multi-task.

    · Experience on MAC and PC computers a plus.

    · Must possess a positive attitude and enjoy working in a dynamic working environment.

    · Coffee Drinkers Encouraged!
