Design Engineer designs, develops, and enhances new and existing products/product lines. Evaluates and recommends specifications and ensures products meet the technical and functional requirements. Being a Design Engineer recommends and follows reliable, efficient, and cost-effective procedures. Performs feasibility, functional, and quality testing of designs. Additionally, Design Engineer works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure project milestones are met and that projects are completed according to established timelines. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Design Engineer work is closely managed. What you would be doing: (Responsibilities)
- Work with a team of professionals in developing highway and roadway design plans, including grading and drainage design, pavement design, utilities, stormwater design, quantities, specs, and contract documents for State DOT and Municipal projects throughout New York and New England.
- This entry-level position will require some fieldwork travel.
Who you are: (Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with E.I.T. required.
- 0 - 3 years of civil infrastructure design or construction administration experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Microstation/InRoads a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively participate as part of a project team.
