MAIN FUNCTIONS:

• Establishes graphic design principles, file naming conventions, element linking protocols; data archive maintenance and file retrieval procedures to ensure uniformity and efficiency in all aspects of the digital prepress process.
• Determines page layout of timetables with the department manager. Develops press ready documents and export files by adjusting and manipulating HASTUS (Bus) and Train Plan (Rail) formatted output files using custom design software.
• Advises department manager of additions or deletions of printed schedule material and changes in product specifications received through Bus, Rail and Light Rail Service Planners.
• Manages a tracking spreadsheet of the prepress technician functions to Service Planning personnel during a Bus, Rail and Light Rail picks.
• Facilitates an effective working relationship between the planning departments and commercial print vendors.
• Works closely with Rail and Bus Service planners, Principal Graphic Designer of Creative Services and Communication Service Coordinator and other internal departments.
• Supervisors Print Service Coordinator with editing of Bus and Rail timetable PIDs and incoming new jobs. Reviews job specs and updates on any changes.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s Degree in graphic communications or related area and three years of relevant experience with supervising graphic artist and digitized publishing systems.
• One year of closely related experience can be substituted for each year of education required.
• Working knowledge of the printing and graphic arts industry required.
• Digital publishing experience essential.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, printing applications such as Adobe suites, Corel and Ventura applications required.
