The Commission develops and implements policies for the communications industry in California, including ensuring fair, affordable universal access to necessary services, developing clear rules to allow flexibility without compromising due process, and removing barriers to competition. The Communications Division plays a central role in implementing the Governor's recent signing of SB 156, which authorizes $6 billion to be spent on closing California's Digital Divide.

    Under the direction of the Program & Project Supervisor, the PURA III will work as part of team of analysts to:
    • Develop, deploy, and implement a program to fund broadband infrastructure projects.
    • Conduct economic, policy and/or technical analyses and research to bridge the digital divide and provide reliable and affordable Internet access to all Californians.
    • Present research, analysis, findings, and recommendations orally and in writing.
    • Write and defend reports and staff proposals in formal proceedings.
    • Present ideas, research, analysis, findings, and recommendations orally and in writing.
    • Prepare materials and assist discussions in meetings, workshops, and conferences.
