    Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites is seeking a Retail Sales Associate for the brand new Schropp Shoppe in Historic Downtown Bethlehem, PA. The organization cares for 20 historic sites, including two National Historic Landmarks and provides public offerings through walking and custom tours year-round. Historic Moravian Bethlehem has been designated as a National Historic Landmark District and been nominated to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

    This position is responsible for supporting management in promoting a customer and product-focused sales culture, where our guests are at the forefront of our store operations, including ensuring a great customer experience and maximum profitability. Position will also need to be familiar with Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites programming and tours. The successful candidate is independent, outgoing, and comfortable working with the general public. Through friendly and energetic interaction, the successful candidate will increase revenue which supports Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites.

    Responsibilities:

    • Meet company sales goals by communicating product knowledge to customer; greeting every customer, recommending merchandise based on customers needs, and upselling at point of sale
    • Maintain knowledge of current sales, program offerings; maintains pricing and visual standards
    • Maintain standards in merchandise handling and presentation
    • Promote overall HBMS support (memberships, donations, in-kind support, tours, museum admission, merchandise transaction round-ups and solicitation of special events)
    • Answer phone inquiries and ensures prompt resolution of customer concerns
    • Independently complete customer transactions promptly and accurately; reinforcing buying decisions at checkout and encouraging additional purchases based on customer selections
    • Request and record visitor information for enhanced marketing and outreach efforts
    • Replenish the store and assists with store displays
    • Maintain and report accurate visitation statistics
    • Share information about Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites
    • Ensure every guest receives high quality customer service
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Previous experience with merchandise and cash-handling
    • Willingness and ability to work weekends and evenings
    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and move display pieces
    • Ability to work as a team player and maintain a high standard of accountability

    Desired Skills:

    • Previous retail experience preferred
    • High energy – must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrate a sense of humor and delight in working with the general public
    • Work with a high level of integrity and flexibility to enhance guest satisfaction
    • Proficient computer skills and demonstrate ability to master new programs quickly
    • Exceptional oral communication skills
