    Job Description

    The Erie Art Museum is seeking a part-time Visitor Services Associate that functions as the first point-of-contact for visitors and callers to the Museum. This role is a front-of-house position and responsibilities include:

    • greeting visitors and callers and assessing their needs/reasons for visit or call
    • providing necessary information to the visitor or caller about current or upcoming Museum events and programs
    • managing membership transactions and other point-of-sale transactions including admission, gallery sales, retail sales, and event registrations.

    This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with the public. This position also includes some special event work, tours, weekend, and evening hours. This is a part-time position not to exceed 20 hours a week working approximately 2-3 days per week and reports to the Director of Marketing and Visitor Services Coordinator.

    Responsibilities

    • Greet and orient in-person visitors and answer phones and direct calls
    • Assess member needs and process renewals and transactions for members.
    • Printing and sorting of membership mailings.
    • Communicate with Manager of Facilities to maintain a secure environment for museum exhibits
    • Monitor Museum security cameras during operating hours
    • Record daily attendance and coordinate sign-in for volunteers
    • Manage point-of-sale transactions for retail sales, membership, and admission as well as provide cashier duties during operating hours
    • Assist with front desk duties at special events as arranged by the Events Coordinator
    • Complete opening and closing procedures for front desk
    • Maintain a friendly, clean, and welcoming atmosphere of the front lobby and gift shop for visiting guests
    • Other duties as assigned by the Visitor Services Coordinator

    Qualifications

    • Approximately 1-3 years of experience working in front-of-house, customer service, or sales.
    • Experience working with computer systems including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, customer relationship management systems (CRM) preferred.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as a team.
    • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

    Physical Requirements

    This position requires movement through walking, standing, moving through the space in a wheelchair or other mobility assistance device. Physical demands may also include lifting packages, mail deliveries, and occasionally moving tables. Accommodations can be met for those that have mobility needs.
