Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as Summer Museum Intern. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic museum environment. This is a temporary position that will provide valuable insight into the operations of a museum and enhance your knowledge of history, tourism, and archival practices.
This is a small staff with wonderful volunteers, and is a quiet and fun work environment. Time will be split between working on special projects and greeting visitors at the front desk. Additional museum project(s) will be assigned to fit applicant’s educational goals. See below for job responsibilities and preferred skills and experience.

Job Responsibilities:
Greets museum visitors and answers general historical questions.
Answers phones & takes messages.
Gift shop upkeep, inventory and sales.
Opens and closes the museum facility.
Basic cleaning of displays, doors & surfaces.
Provide support during educational programs and events.
Data entry.
Collaborate with museum staff on various projects as needed, and special project(s) TBD!
Required Skills and Experience:
Interest in history!
Front desk and cash register experience.
Positive and friendly attitude.
Collaborative and constructive.
Punctual, responsible and reliable.
Detail oriented, with the ability to multitask.
Ability to positively interact with guests, volunteers, staff, and board members.
Computer skills and program knowledge – such as Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Suite, and PastPerfect.
Physical Nature of Job:
Sit and stand for long periods.
Walk, bend and stoop to turn on museum case lights.
Lift up to 30 pounds (moving file boxes, etc.).
