    Description

    Palmer College of Chiropractic is looking for a Career Development Center Coordinator! The Career Development Center Coordinator will manage activities which focus on career counseling and services; design and deliver career education programs for students and alumni.

     

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

    • Responsible to the assigned administrator and has a support responsibility to all other departments and college personnel as necessary.

     

    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee the Career Development Program including the development of modules and monitoring of web-based matching program.
    • Provide career counseling; administer assessment tools, career search advising and information to departmental clientele, both individually and in groups.
    • Assist with maintaining and monitoring an accurate operational budget for the department.
    • Work with the assigned administrator to maintain the Career Resource Center.
    • Network and develop contacts with corporate representatives, alumni and other stakeholders in order to facilitate preceptorships, internships, residencies and volunteer opportunities.
    • Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars and programs on career development and job search strategies.
    • Facilitate special outreach efforts to first and second year students.
    • Communicate with students, alumni, faculty and staff regarding career opportunities.
    • Assist graduating students considering post-doctorate opportunities.
    • Edit and oversee distribution of department e-newsletter/advertising brochure.
    • Represent the Senior Director at off-campus activities (community/conferences) as needed.
    • Perform all responsibilities in a manner that fully complies with Palmer’s Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action policy.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of research and analysis methods and grant writing.
    • Ability to perform assigned duties with time pressures and frequent interruptions.
    • Ability to utilize general office equipment and other necessary equipment.
    • Ability to utilize personal computer and various software packages.
    • Ability to originate and implement new ideas and approaches.
    • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Ability to work various hours as job requires.

     

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience developing and delivering workshops and/or training modules. At least two years experience working in a career development office, and in providing programming and counseling.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Perform sedentary to light work in a ventilated, lighted, and temperature controlled office setting.
    • Frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift light objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the workday.
