Development Director manages an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Implements donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Director works to develop potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Development Director uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Development Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Development Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • As the Executive Director you will lead the vision and mission formulation, strategic planning, and execution of the Western Wisconsin Workforce Development Board. The Board Your role will be pivotal in driving organizational effectiveness, fostering collaboration, and ensuring impactful outcomes in workforce development initiatives across the region.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and articulate a cohesive vision and mission for the WDB emphasizing efficiency, planning and strategic leadership in all endeavors.
    • Lead the formulation and implementation of comprehensive strategic plans aligned with the federal, state, and local Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) plans, and other relevant frameworks.
    • Develop a diversification strategy for revenue generation; identify grants.
    • Oversee the development and adherence to annual budgets, program budgets, and procurement processes, ensuring fiscal compliance and sound financial management practices.
    • Provide strategic direction and oversight to all workforce development programs and initiatives, evaluating performance and taking corrective action when necessary.
    • Collaborate with partner agencies, educational institutions, economic development organizations, and other stakeholders to foster synergy and maximize the impact of workforce development efforts.
    • Serve as a liaison between the Boards of Directors and Chief Local Elected Official (CLEOs) and the workforce development organization, facilitating communication and ensuring alignment with policy directives.
    • Represent the WDB at local, regional, and state levels, participating in project workgroups and advocating for workforce development priorities.
    • Lead organizational communication efforts, engaging with stakeholders, governmental units, media, and the public to promote awareness and garner support for workforce development initiatives.
    • Lead the WDB staff and manage daily operations.
    • Other Duties as Assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Requires Baccalaureate degree with coursework in business administration, public administration, political science, or related field and/or extensive experience in planning and development, budget planning and oversight, leadership, and facilitation and negotiation.
    • Requires at least five years of progressively responsible management experience, including experience working with boards, commissions, and other policy-making officials. Requires considerable supervisory experience. Preferred: management experience in directly-related field; certifications in workforce development or human resources strongly preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
    • Proficiency in financial management and budgeting, preferred experience with fund accounting.
    • Strong skills in developing outcome-driven performance metrics and accountability
    • Knowledge and experience overseeing of marketing, operations, and administrative functions
    • Mindset of continuous quality and customer satisfaction improvement
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to conceptualize, organize, evaluate, and analyze data to drive informed decision-making.
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities with a passion for fostering collaboration and driving organizational excellence.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively and deliver results within established timelines.
    • Competency in word processing, spreadsheet software, and other relevant tools.
    • Travel as required, up to two to three times per week.

    Compensation commiserate with experience.
