Development Director manages an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Implements donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Director works to develop potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Development Director uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Development Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Development Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position Summary:

    The primary responsibility of this position is to connect and engage the community with Care and Share.  Prospects, cultivates, and stewards relationships with potential and long-term supporters.  Administers Care and Share events and campaigns, educating the community and seeking participation.


    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Identifies potential partners (i.e., donors, volunteers, schools, businesses, community groups, community leaders, and other non-profits) that have the potential to further our mission.
    • Connects with potential and existing partners to develop and deepen relationships.  Schedules visits, tours, social engagements, and meetings to enhance interest and seek alignment with Care and Share's mission.
    • Develops and implements a strategic stewardship plan to express gratitude and keep potential partners abreast of Care and Share's activities.
    • Takes a lead role in fundraising events in the community.  Collaborates with the Development team to ensure successful outcomes for all fundraising events and campaigns.
    • Seeks out collaborative community networking events.  Represents Care and Share and educates community members about its programs and services.
    • Engages in grant prospecting, outreach, grant writing, and reporting as able for the community.
    • Serves as the point of contact for applicable grants and manages reporting and application deadlines.  Informs the Grants Manager of active grants and collaborates as needed.
    • Serves as the subject matter expert on the designated community.  Represents the location to the Executive Leadership Team.

    Requirements

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)
    • Proficient to intermediate with Raiser's Edge or a similar platform preferred.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to build relationships and trust quickly while maintaining integrity and ethics.
    • Strong leadership skills.
    • Must be comfortable asking for large and small donations.
    • Must have strong connections and familiarity with the local community.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience.
    • At least three years of experience with community engagement.
    • Fundraising experience is highly preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer mixed with periods of time traveling and meeting with people.
    • Must be willing and able to work nights and weekends occasionally.
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. 

    Travel Requirements:

    • Must have valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and automobile insurance that meets Colorado's minimum standards.
    • Extensive travel throughout Pueblo is required.  Some travel throughout Southern Colorado, including regular visits to Colorado Springs, is also required.

    Remote Capability: Minimal

    The starting wage for this position is $65,000 to $70,000 annually.
