Development Director manages an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Implements donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Director works to develop potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Job Title: Director of Development
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Business, Non-profit management or related field. A minimum of two years of experience in development work, including work with major donors. Prior supervisory experience required. CFRE certification preferred.
Principle Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of the CEO, the Director of Development works with the CEO to direct and implement the HCFC fundraising plan and ensure continued advancement of the HCFC mission to the general public and investors.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Scope: This salaried, exempt position is primarily responsible for daily implementation and oversight of the development arm of HCFC. Fund development is a primary aspect of the position with a focus on donor engagement and retention.
Responsibilities:
1. Reviewing agency data and participating in quarterly PQI Review meetings
2. Compiling data on donor retention
3. Monitoring and reporting on the return on investment of agency events
4. Completing other duties as assigned on the PQI Grid
Positions Supervised: Communications Coordinator, Volunteer and Events Coordinator, and Grant Coordinator
Necessary characteristics: Must be passionate about the HCFC mission. Must love fundraising. Must be a team player and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have a high tolerance for learning new things and working in a fast-paced environment. Must be savvy and comfortable with technology and have great attention to detail. Must be able to lead multiple long and short term projects simultaneously, meeting all deadlines. The role requires great planning and organizational skills. The duties require an understanding of and respect for fundraising principles and ethics, as well as a strong commitment to providing the best resources for children and families served.
