Development Director manages an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, capital development initiatives, and operations to support the overall organizational development and revenue objectives. Implements donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Director works to develop potential corporate or governmental partnerships and grant funding opportunities. Creates collaborative coordination between staff and internal stakeholders to plan events and communications to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Development Director uses technology to manage and monitor donor information and produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Development Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Development Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • We are looking for a dedicated individual to oversee all fundraising activities and to manage relationships with Millhill's financial partners. This includes planning fundraising events, interacting and finding donors both public and private and encourage ongoing contributions and seeking out opportunities for financial support through grants and sponsorships.

    The essential duties are as follows:

    • Implement and monitor a comprehensive fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support of Millhill including using income and expense cycles to guide fundraising campaign decisions.
    • Identify and strengthen relationships with community stakeholders.
    • Build new donor relationships while maintaining existing ones.
    • Lead design and implementation marketing programs and special events to maximize prospect/donor engagement.
    • Coordinate media events; speak on behalf of Millhill with media outlets as needed.
    • Act as primary point of contact for funding, donations, and fundraising event inquiries.
    • Manage special event planning and implementation of the event process.
    • Oversee the grant writer role and assist in grant writing.
    • Formulate new content to earn grants, new audiences, and better relationships with donors and other corporations.
    • Monitor the donor/constituency database (GiftWorks).
    • Maintain a respectful reputation for Millhill
    • Oversee the management of the website.
    • Manage written correspondence to donors and supporters, including donor acknowledgements.
    • Assist marketing with the production of the annual report.
    • Create visibility for the Agency through an active public relations program.
    • Design and implement an annual appeal process.
    • Create/revise agency brochures.
    • Submit a monthly progress report to the CEO to include strategies and needs.


    This position is a 30-hour per week position which we consider full-time and allows for eligibility to participate in the agency's benefit programs. This position can be a hybrid position and depending on the needs of the agency, some weeks may allow the ability to work 100% from home.

    Requirements

    We would like to see these qualities in our Director of Development:

    • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of five years' professional experience in the nonprofit sector or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience.
    • Interest and enthusiasm for the mission of Millhill.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, to analyze and solve complex problems, and to exercise sound judgment.
    • A desire to continually learn and develop professionally while exhibiting respect for diverse viewpoints.
    • Excellent communications kills, including verbal, written, and public speaking.
    • Creativity and a strong sense of integrity.

    • Computer proficiency required; experience with database management.
