Development Manager supervises operations to execute an organization's fundraising strategies, campaigns, and capital development initiatives supporting short- and long-term organizational revenue objectives. Implements and supports donor stewardship programs to identify, develop, retain, and nurture a portfolio of individual and institutional donors. Being a Development Manager collaborates with corporate or governmental partnerships. Coordinates staff and stakeholders in event planning and communication to increase donor engagement. Additionally, Development Manager manages a donor database and tools to produce data-driven measurement and reporting of the progress of fundraising goals. May oversee or participate in the grant writing and proposal process. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Development Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.     Sputtering Components Inc. (SCI) in Owatonna is a small business in southern Minnesota that has served customers all around the world for over 20 years. We are currently hiring for a highly motivated Business Development Manager.

    Every day, millions of people around the world come into contact with products made using Sputtering Components equipment. Our thin film technologies are used in vacuum coating systems to make windows, smartphones, display screens, solar panels, automobile components, decorative hardware and more.

    The purpose of this position is to drive technology and applications within the organization to increase sales. Key responsibilities associated with this role include market evaluation, identification of customer requirements, and applications development. The position will require a data driven business evaluation of the market, creating a strategy for market and applications development for thin film components, and technological/application support of the products being offered.

    Sputtering Components is a member of the Bühler Group. We strive to engineer customer success.

    Tasks

    • Collaborate with a global organization to collect and analyze technological developments and market trends to understand how to best guide product development within the organization.
    • Work closely with R&D and Product Management for developing and managing the product road map.
    • Present and market the company’s technologies and vision through publications, trade shows, and conferences.
    • Support the customer, Sales Team, and field/service or applications engineers in understanding customer requirements and resolving any technical issues.
    • Participate in relevant Interest Groups such as conference committees and consortium boards.
    • Identify new market/component solutions tailored to specific regions by working with local customers and channel partners to drive new sales in these regions through adjacent market activities.
    • Provide support in SCI product and technology transfer to Asia or other regions globally.
    • Collaborate with institutes and consortiums to enable technology development.

    Required qualifications

    • 5 years of experience in vacuum coating equipment, and thin film deposition technology.
    • Expertise in, large area coating, FPD (flat panel display), PV (photo-voltaic), and industrial plasma processes are preferred.
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally ~35% per year.
    • Best in class written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to create and deliver effective presentations.
    • Timely and consistent communication with our customers and SCI team.
    • Ability to work within and lead effective teams.
    • Minimum Bachelor’s in Science or Engineering with a master’s degree preferred.
    • Desired to have a degree in Business Administration, or equivalent.
