Diabetes Educator educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity and glucose testing. Collects patient data to monitor health status and proactively manage the patient's condition. Being a Diabetes Educator facilitates skill development and behavior modification so that the patient is able to successfully manage the disease. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent. Additionally, Diabetes Educator typically required to be a Certified Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Diabetes Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     The Clinical Educator is responsible and accountable for assessing educational needs, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs, conferences, and in-services. He/She assists with quality improvement activities and assessing the implementation of age and culturally appropriate care programs. He/She assists in staff development and team building activities. He/She mentors by role modeling professional practice behavior and providing educational support to all staff. He/she will be responsible for collaborating with other hospital nurse educators to implement and sustain just-in-time training, continuing educational opportunities, skills labs, and nursing/CNA orientation.

    Shift Details: 32 hours weekly, Day shift

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree - Nursing.
    • Montana Registered Nurse License upon hire.
    • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
    • 3 years - Experience in health care education.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree - Nursing or related field.
    • Certification in Nursing Staff Development upon hire.
