Diabetes Educator educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity and glucose testing. Collects patient data to monitor health status and proactively manage the patient's condition. Being a Diabetes Educator facilitates skill development and behavior modification so that the patient is able to successfully manage the disease. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent. Additionally, Diabetes Educator typically required to be a Certified Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Diabetes Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Position Summary
Nursing faculty at Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) are responsible for creating a culturally diverse learning environment that employs best practices in teaching and learning through various delivery modes to meet current and future educational needs of the communities served by the College. Nursing faculty bring to their classrooms and committees’ expertise and experience that provides a competency-based interdisciplinary curriculum, utilizes alternative pedagogies and learning technologies, promotes collaborative work skills, contributes to student success, supports the College and community, and contributes to the success of the College in achieving its mission. Responsibilities also include those listed in Oregon Revised Statutes 851-021-0045.
