Diabetes Educator educates patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity and glucose testing. Collects patient data to monitor health status and proactively manage the patient's condition. Being a Diabetes Educator facilitates skill development and behavior modification so that the patient is able to successfully manage the disease. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent. Additionally, Diabetes Educator typically required to be a Certified Care and Education Specialist (CDCES). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Diabetes Educator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. That's why our physicians work closely with patients/families, nurses, diabetes educators, dietitians and social workers to create an individualized treatment plan for each patient.

Who Should Apply:
• BSN Preferred. Applicants with an Associate’s degree in nursing will be required to obtain BSN within 36 months.
• Current State of Florida RN license required.
• Certified Diabetes Educator certification required.
• 3 years pediatric clinical experience and evidence of participation in educational activities.
• BLS required.
• Ability to interact with patients and family members in a positive manner to teach diabetes principles.
Work Location: St. Petersburg, FL with travel to Tampa, Pasco, Brandon and/or Sarasota
Work Hours: 7a-5:30p (M-F) 1 Saturday per month.
