The Shift Coordinator is the first line of supervisory position within the Chain of Command. Responsibilities include overseeing the shift activities and Treatment Support Workers, managing crisis, establishing and implementing program activities, maintaining the structure for each shift, and ensuring that proper ratios are being utilized at all times. The Shift Coordinator is also responsible for administering medications to the children per Department of Children and Families (DCF) guidelines.

Responsible for supervising Treatment Support Workers and coordinating all aspects of direct care for residents in the group home setting:

• Set priorities, structure, and schedule for assigned shifts.
• Administer medication to residents per DCF Medication Administration program guidelines.
• Handle basic medical needs for residents (i.e. first aid, cold remedies, etc.).
• Ensure residents are maintaining all daily hygiene and healthy habits.
• Coordinate and supervise homework and provide educational support.
• Engage residents in activities that promote social, emotional and intellectual learning.
• Provide a safe, supportive, nurturing, and healthy environment for the residents.
• De-escalate emotional and behavioral problems that may arise with the residents.
• Participate in meal planning, preparation and serving of nutritious meals.
• Complete tasks as assigned by the Residential Manager (if applicable), Program Coordinator and Program Director.
• Fulfill the shift duties, which may include general housework, cooking, and cleaning.
• Act as a positive role model for the residents demonstrating self-respect, dignity and adherence to treatment and agency goals.
• Maintain therapeutic environment outside of the group home.
• Maintain daily log and progress notes for each child while ensuring confidentiality.

Position Requirements:

• Have a clean criminal history.
• Certified to administer medication by the Department of Children & Families (DCF).
• Have a clean pre-employment drug test, post offer physical and TB screening.
• Must be punctual, arrive on time for shifts and follow agency procedure for absences.
• Valid CT driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Related experience working with clients who have behavioral and emotional difficulties strongly preferred.

• Saturday & Sunday 6am-2pm
